Responsibilities:

SAFETY MANAGER

PT. Nusa Halmahera Minerals is a gold mining and exploration company, operating a COW on Halmahera Island, North Maluku. The company is a joint venture between Newcrest Mining Limited (82.5%) and PT Aneka Tambang (17.5%).

The Company has a position vacant in Safety Manager at Gosowong - North Halmahera working a 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster. The Safety Manager reports to Deputy General Manager.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Minimum 8 years on the supervision and implementation of safety management system for open cut and underground Mining environment
• Ability to assemble data from information resources and identify safety system & procedures required
• Ability to identify, procure and manage relevant and competent external specialist as required, familiar with Indonesian Mining safety standards, regulations
• Significant knowledge of relevant OH&S Acts and regulations plus other regulatory standards as required
• Sound knowledge of assessment techniques used in risk assessment, task safety and other safety system
• Significant exposure to the National Training Agenda, Australian Qualifications and Training framework

Technical Accountabilities

• Maintenance of an update legislative compliances register
• Development, implementation and review of relevant safety management Plans, major hazards management plans, policies and standards and procedures with corporate direction,
• Co-ordinate of effective delivery of OH&S information and training, developing and distributing relevant safety bulletins, scheduling and coordinating relevant safety programs, JSA, Environment analysis & Risk assessment, SBO, Accident investigations, Fitness for work, First aids, working at heights, confined spaces, isolations, tagging, etc.

Tertiary education major in OH & S desirable post graduate qualifications in OH&S or related area and Diploma Business (front line management) Teamwork oriented & active written and spoken English and behavior consistent
