Save the Children is the leading UK charity working to create a better world for children. Save the Children (UK) is part of the International Save the Children Alliance, which aims to be a truly international movement for children.

In view of the volatile and complex political environment in Indonesia, Save the Children UK opened an office in Jakarta in October 1999 and emergency interventions followed. As part of its longer term strategy Save the Children has undertaken a number of assessments on child rights issues at national level, and continues to develop its programmes at provincial level in West Timor, West Kalimantan, Sulawesi, North Maluku, Maluku and Aceh, Nias and Yogjakarta. The main thematic areas of the country programme for longer-term programming are Education, Social Protection and Health.

Programme Manager

Person specification:

All Essential Unless Specified Otherwise.

* Bachelor degree in development field or relevant field, OR
* Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing development/emergency projects in developing countries
* Experience of developing, maintaining and improving relationships with local government and other NGOs
* Experience of working in an insecure environment
* Experience of managing education projects

Skills and Knowledge:

* Understanding of education and child protection
* Sound knowledge of rights based approaches to working with children and communities, and a creative and innovative approach to working on these issues with a proven commitment to child participation and empowerment methodologies.
* Proven skills in financial and staff management
* Very good communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
* Very good project/programme management skills
* Proven skills in project/programme development and proposal writing
